To guide education, training and staff development needs in perinatal bereavement, the National Implementation Group set out an outline of target core competences for those working in the area of Perinatal
Bereavement Care and to identify education & training courses designed to enhance these competences Based on the material collated by the education work stream the courses and training available are highlighted below. Every effort has been made to ensure all education programmes have been included here

In –house training/ formal / informal training
Each Maternity Hospital manages its own staff education programme in conjunction with the local Centre for Nursing and Midwifery Education and Nursing and Midwifery Planning and Development Units. The list hereunder is a comprehensive list of what is available throughout in all the Maternity hospitals. For further information on each course please contact the individual hospitals
Regular Conferences / Meetings Attended
The list below has been compiled from the International meetings/ Conferences, particular to Perinatal Bereavement care that members of the Bereavement teams in all the Maternity Hospitals have attended.
National / International Courses
These courses are Continuous Professional Courses/Modules offered in conjunction with professional organisations who deal with Perinatal Bereavement or Obstetrics.
Formative / University Courses
These are formal University Courses with an academic award on successful exit of the course.
